MAREC - Infinite enjoyment in Belgian Limburg

600 ha water pleasure

The MAREC (Maaslandse Recreation Centres) marinas have an enormous expanse of water totalling 600 hectares. Near De Spaanjerd Marina in Ophoven-Kinrooi there are speed limitations so it mainly caters to sail boats and large motor yachts. Fast aquatic sports are offered in Heerenlaak Marina. At a respectable number of kilometres from the Meuse River fast aquatic sports are also permitted.

The sizeable European waterways system can be navigated from the MeuseRiver.

Marinas for sailboats, motoryachts and fast motor boats

MAREC (Maaslandse Recreation Centres) has been running the Heerenlaak and De Spaanjerd marinas since 1980.

De Spaanjerd Marina in Ophoven-Kinrooi satisfies sail boats, large yachts and surfers. There are almost 1000 moorings ranging from dinghies on land to yachts with a maximum length of 35 metres. Heerenlaak Marina (440 moorings) is mainly interesting for fast motor boats since there are no speed limits.

Quality, green, safety

Heerenlaak and De Spaanjerd are the best-developed marinas on the Meuse River: floating docks, secured car park, trailer incline, mast crane, gas station, boat wharf, etc. They also have very well-equipped, modern campgrounds.

Both marinas have been annual recipients of the Blue Flag since 1996. The Blue Flag is a European quality label for environment management, selective collection of rubbish, information about the environment and nature, and dealing with surface water carefully. An environmental station is on hand.

The camper parks have been annual recipients of the Green Key (an ecology label) since 2007.

The Marec marinas are safe! Both De Spaanjerd and Heerenlaak are only accessible by car for Marec guests with personal chip cards. The permanent presence of a harbour master offers the best barrier against theft and vandalism.

An AED-appliance (defibrillator) is available.

Comfortable, safe and environmentally conscious

Both marinas are equipped in such a way that the docks adapt themselves to the changing water level. You can reach the navigable Meuse River directly, without locks. On the Meuse River the possibilities are innumerable. One can reach every navigable waterway in Western Europe via canals!

In De Spaanjerd and Heerenlaak marinas a harbour master ensures that things run smoothly. The entrance is secured electronically.

Both marinas have a repairs wharf with a hydraulic crane and gas station. Customers and visitors can use the environmental station and the mast crane. Customers can use the modern, well-equipped sanitary facilities for free.

Internet On Board

Both the marinas and campgrounds Heerenlaak and De Spaanjerd are equipped with wireless internet (WiFi). You can chat, email or surf the web from the sun deck or the terrace at the campground. One visit to the harbour master and it’ll all be taken care of!
